Who is Jesus? Was He God?

If Christ was not a liar or a lunatic, then He has to be what He said He was; God. There is no middle ground in this discussion. He could not have been merely a good teacher or prophet because He claimed to be God. If He was lying then He was a horrible person who was merely searching for a following and influence. These are not the earmarks of a good teacher or prophet.

If He was a lunatic, then nothing that He said can be taken seriously, as it would be the same as taking advice from or heeding the words of one who claimed to be Napoleon today. He should be pitied as an unfortunate individual, who needed help, but was instead unfairly judged and put to death. Would you seek out someone who was clinically insane to find answers to life’s problems?

For me it is simple. I do not believe Him to be a liar or lunatic for the reasons expressed in those respective entries. While those entries only scratch the surface of the argument, they contain enough substance to make one look at the evidence and search for answers.

Matthew 16:13 – 17 says:

When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”
So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

Jesus is asking you today, “But who do you say that I am?”
