Repentance: Why?

Adam and Eve were God’s very own creation. He created them in His image and as a result made them volitional; meaning He gave them the ability to make choices and then to act upon those choices. He gave them everything that they needed to live in splendor and happiness.

Imagine, they had access to the world’s largest produce section. Watermelon, apples, oranges, mango, strawberries, blue berries, corn, potatoes, green beans; you get the point. Yet there was one fruit they were forbidden to touch. The fruit of the tree of knowledge.

This was God’s test. Would they be obedient because of their love love for Him or would they rebel?

We all know the answer; they chose to rebel. As a result there were consequences to their actions. The severest of which was they died spiritually that day and were eternally separated from God. Spiritual death was, and continues to be, passed down from generation to generation. Just like dominoes; when you knock over one they all fall down (Romans 3:23 & Romans 3:10).

The actions of one man, Adam, impacted the world for time and eternity. Causing all those to come after him to be born eternally separated from God. However the actions of another Man, Jesus, reverses that condition for those who accept Him as Lord and savior (Romans 5:12-21).
