The last three verses of 2 Kings chapter four contain so much more than what we see at first glance. Israel was an apostate nation. A nation with leaders and citizens who rebelled against God and worshipped false gods. In the midst of this rebelliousness, we find a man who still serves the one true God. A man who was faithful to honor God with his first fruits in spite of the culture around him. His name is not given, but his example of faithfulness endures!

When our circumstances change in an instant and hope seems to be gone, remember God hears His children when they call on Him. Even if we made the mess through a mistake or not seeking God before making a poor decision, He still listens when we call. We may be uncomfortable for a while, but God never forsakes His children when they turn to Him.

When God gives us instruction, we must listen carefully and do exactly as He says. He has a plan, which may seem strange to us, but will accomplish exactly what He has promised.

Commitment is critical to accomplishing the purpose God has placed within us. We must be committed to Him regardless of circumstances, feelings, or failures. In this message, we examine the commitment of Elisha to Elijah and the impact on God's prophetic calling upon him.
