In 1 Peter 3:8-12, the Apostle Peter provides us with four principles we can apply to our lives, which will result in a fulfilling life as a believer. In this week’s message, we look at the principle “Flee from sin and pursue peace.”  In order to flee from sin we must first understand the temptation we face is custom tailored for us and is a direct result of our personality, environment, experiences, and past sins.  Secondly, we must recognize sin is a process and not a spontaneous act.

In 1 Peter 3:8-12, the Apostle Peter provides us with four principles we can apply to our lives, which will result in a fulfilling life as a believer. In this week’s message, we look at the principle “Do not Seek Revenge.” The Apostle instructs us to not seek revenge and then he elevates the principle by echoing the command of Jesus to bless those who would be our enemies.

In this message on 1 Peter chapters two and three, we learn God has declared us a chosen generation, a royal priest hood, a holy nation, and a special people. As a result, we are to live before an unbelieving world in a manner which reflects Christ to those around us. Peter focuses specifically on the believer’s conduct before civil authority, an unjust employer, and an unbelieving spouse.

Our relationship with God begins and is maintained by a healthy reverential fear and awe of Him.  Reverential fear will result in obedience and obedience brings the blessings of God into our lives.

In this second installment in our series entitled “Are You Glad,” we look at the pilgrim as he sees the city of Jerusalem and then enters the gates of the city.  His journey to the city is completed and he is reminded of the hope he has in God, the protection and provision of God in Israel’s past, and the future of Israel.
