At the beginning of the week, as we read in Matthew 21, the masses were celebrating Jesus as their conquering hero. By the end of the week He was declared a criminal. The people wanted a king who would deliver them from the tyranny of the Roman government. What they got was a savior who died for their sin so they could be reconciled with God. Junkyards are interesting places. They have automobiles of different eras, makes, and models. It is clear from a single glance the junkyard is not a respecter of persons. Any vehicle can wind up there at any time given the right circumstances. In our lives a single bad decision or even a circumstance beyond our control can cause us to relegate ourselves to a life in the junkyard; a life without purpose, empty, and forgotten. There is hope in God’s word! It promises in Psalm 138:8 that God will perfect His purpose in us because of His mercy regardless of past choices or circumstances.
