    Before The Dust Settles
    Series: Judges
    Judges number 8
We find in Judges 6:28-32, Gideon has taken the first step in his obedience to God by tearing down the altar to Baal in his father's back yard.  He did as God commanded and built an altar to the Lord in its place and made an offering upon it.  Before the second sacrifice finished burning, the enemies of God came looking for the one responsible.  Gideon's life was threatened immediately for his obedience.  He had a choice to make, remain in place, trust God, and be used by Him or run as fast as he could. How do we respond to the enemies immediate attacks when we move forward in obedience to God?

Judges chapter six begins with the return of a once defeated enemy of Israel, the Midianites.  Numbers chapter 31 details Israel's great victory, which left the Midianites leaderless and helpless.  Yet, because of Israel's persistent idolatry, this once beaten enemy returns to oppress and harass the nation.  In this message we look at the reasons beaten enemies return in our lives and the damage they can do if we do not turn to God.

The first three judges we see in chapter three are Othniel, Ehud, and Shamgar. These judges demonstrate to us, God likes to use the ordinary, the flawed, and the common to accomplish His will.  He takes the ordinary and makes them extraordinary!  He takes the flawed and brings beauty!  He takes the common and performs the impossible!

    Triumph or Tribute?
    Series: Judges
    Judges WK1 Title
When the nation of Israel ventured further into the promise land, they found enemies which were not so easily defeated.  God had promised them ultimate triumph, but they had to trust Him and His time table.  We find at the end of Judges chapter one, they settled for less than what God had for them because of faithlessness, lack of leadership, and lack of effort.  They had triumph waiting for them,  but as verse 28 tells us in Judges chapter one, they settled for tribute.  Are we doing the same in our lives?
