In this message on 1 Peter chapters two and three, we learn God has declared us a chosen generation, a royal priest hood, a holy nation, and a special people. As a result, we are to live before an unbelieving world in a manner which reflects Christ to those around us. Peter focuses specifically on the believer’s conduct before civil authority, an unjust employer, and an unbelieving spouse.

Solomon discovered the hard way that living a life apart from God and the purpose He has destined for each of us, leads only to frustration and regret.  He considered all he had done and all he had earned as valuable as “chasing after the wind.” Time wasted attempting to grab hold of something elusive and just out of reach. Holding onto the hope of happiness and joy, yet finding the closer he came to his prize the further away it seemed to be.

Nehemiah reminded the workers and the citizens of Jerusalem that some things are worth fighting for. He told them to fight for their brethren, their children, their spouses, and their homes.

Nehemiah's life was looking pretty good when we find him in Nehemiah chapter one.  He is the king's cup bearer and confidant.  As a result, he never wanted for anything and he lived a life of privilege.  All of that changed however, when he stopped to ask a fellow Israelite, who had journeyed from Jerusalem, about the city and its inhabitants.  The answer to this relatively simple question changed Nehemiah's life forever.

When God purposes us with a task, it is typically a work that only He can accomplish.  At a pivotal moment, we will face a turning point, a crisis of belief.  At that moment, our response defines what we believe about God.  When that time comes, what will you do?
